Dr. Michael Schut is a native of Wisconsin. He received his B.S. in pre-med Biology from Mississippi College. He then attended the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry and received his D.M.D. in 2007.  He went on to complete a year of post-grad training at the university hospital in Mississippi in the General Practice Residency program.

Dr. Schut enjoys all aspects of general dentistry while focusing implant and cosmetic dentistry.  He thrives on the satisfaction gained by educating patients on how they can improve their oral health.

Dr. Schut makes his home in Wilmington.  When away from the practice, he enjoys several hobbies – playing basketball, paddle-boarding, and attempting to surf.

Dr. Diefes received his training at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry – 37 years later, his approach to dentistry has evolved, yet in many ways it is still the same – taking time to develop relationships with patients and building mutual trust and respect.  Dr. Diefes takes great pride in providing the highest level of dentistry using state-of-the-art equipment supported by a team of dedicated and caring professionals.

While at Chapel Hill, Dr. Diefes met and married a Whiteville native, Wanda Watson; her ties to the area were part of the reason he began practicing in Bladenboro in 1978. He and his wife are active members of Whiteville United Methodist Church.  In their spare time,  this dynamic duo can be found performing for local civic groups and fundraising efforts in their musical group know as Half and Half.

Dr. Diefes and the team at Whiteville Family & Cosmetic Dentistry welcome new patients of all ages and appreciate the opportunity to help you maintain one of your greatest assets, a healthy smile!
